World day of social justice

Harbel City— Firestone, Margibi: Today, on the occasion of the World Day of Social Justice, YARDLiberia, Inc. stands together with organizations and individuals around the globe to highlight the
importance of social justice in building a strong and inclusive society. We take this opportunity to call
upon the government of Liberia, under the leadership of President Joseph Nyumah Boakai, to prioritize
and uphold social justice as a crucial aspect of our nation’s democratic progress.

Social justice is a fundamental principle that ensures the fair distribution of wealth, opportunities, and
privileges within a society. It serves as the cornerstone of a robust democracy, promoting equal rights,
equal access to resources, and the protection of every citizen’s dignity. By upholding social justice, we
can create a society in which everyone has a chance to thrive, regardless of their social background,
ethnicity, gender, or economic status.

The preservation of social justice requires the government’s unwavering commitment to the following
essential pillars:

1. Equal Access to Education: Education is the key to unlocking opportunities and empowering
individuals to contribute effectively to society. The government must strive to provide quality education
to all Liberian citizens, bridging the gap between urban and rural areas, promoting gender equality, and
focusing on skills development to enhance employability.

2. Poverty Alleviation: Poverty remains a pressing issue in Liberia, hindering the realization of social
justice. The government must implement comprehensive strategies to combat poverty, including
equitable distribution of resources, sustainable economic growth, and targeted social welfare programs
that prioritize the marginalized and vulnerable groups.

3. Gender Equality: Gender discrimination perpetuates social inequities and undermines social justice.
We urge the government to strengthen legal frameworks that protect women’s rights, promote
women’s empowerment, and eliminate gender-based violence. Ensuring equal opportunities and
representation for women in all sectors of society is vital for achieving social justice.

4. Access to Healthcare: Universal access to quality healthcare is a fundamental right that contributes to
social justice. The government should prioritize the development of a robust healthcare system,
including improved infrastructure, affordable healthcare services, and enhanced access to essential
medicines across the nation.

5. Promoting Human Rights: Upholding and protecting human rights is a crucial aspect of social justice.
The government must ensure the rule of law, and safeguard freedom of speech, and assembly.

We call on the government of Liberia, under the leadership of President Joseph Nyumah Boakai, to
prioritize social justice in all policy decisions and actions. By upholding social justice, the government can
help to address the root causes of inequality and discrimination and promote a more just and equitable
society for all Liberians.

On this World Day of Social Justice, we urge President Boakai and his administration to take concrete
steps to promote equality, eliminate poverty and discrimination, and ensure that all individuals have
access to basic human rights. By doing so, we can strengthen our democracy and build a more
prosperous future for all Liberians.

YARD-Liberia, Inc. remains committed to working towards a more just and inclusive Liberia, and we call
on all stakeholders to join us in our efforts to promote social justice and equality for all. Together, we
can create a more fair and equitable society for generations to come. Thanks!
